Job Role – Operations Supervisor


  • Erect, modify and dismantle scaffolding systems
  • Wear the correct PPE at all times
  • Complete all relevant site-specific documentation as required and submit to the appropriate personnel
  • Always work in a safe, efficient and diligent manner, ensuring compliance with the site-specific SWMS
  • Conduct weekly Tool Box meetings or as required
  • Maintain housekeeping at all times
  • Report any incidents or near misses immediately to management
  • Conduct incident investigations thoroughly and immediately after an event has occurred
  • Coordinate and effectively manage the labour component of the business, ensuring the necessary labour requirements are allocated to each site through ongoing communication with both client site supervisors and MSH Leading Hands. This includes ensuring that only the bare minimum number of scaffolders required to safely complete each days tasks are allocated
  • Monitor and review the overall work standards of all employees including but not limited to punctuality, attitude, work ethic and skill set. Ensure that management are made aware of any potential risks to the business along with identifying individuals that perform above the standard
  • Liaise with the site project manager to ensure program expectations, contractual works and variations to contract are delivered safely and on time
  • Ensure variations to contract (Day Labour Docket) are recorded including a detailed description of works performed and labour hours involved with authorisation signatures obtained daily
  • Submit all digital dockets, including but not limited to Day Labour Dockets, Incident Reports, Tool Box Talks, Scaffold Inspections on a daily basis
  • Perform and record scaffolding inspections as per site requirements or on a monthly basis
  • Provide adequate instruction and guidance to all employees under your supervision, and report any concerns to management
  • Conduct gear counts where necessary with all orders to be submitted 24hours prior to site mobilisation
  • Inspect scaffolding at the close of business each day and ensure that all incomplete areas are closed off with a hard barrier including the appropriate signage. Email or text photographic evidence of the barrier including its location and placement to the HR Manager at the time of its erection
  • Perform such duties and functions for the Employer as management may reasonably request
  • At all times act faithfully, honestly and diligently
  • Devote the whole of your time, attention, skills and ability to the performance of your obligations under the Contract whenever you are required to be on duty
  • Use all proper means to maintain, improve and promote the business of the Employer
  • Not, at any time, do anything contrary to the interests of the Employer or anything which does or may bring the Employer into disrepute or cause loss or damage to the Employer
  • Comply with all reasonable requests to perform any additional duties

RII40715 Certificate IV in Civil Construction Supervision

RII40715 Certificate IV in Civil Construction Supervision reflects the role of employees working in supervisory positions in civil construction.

They perform tasks involving a broad range of varied activities most of which are complex and non-routine. They are responsible for the quantity and quality of the output of others, contribute to the development of technical solutions to non-routine problems and apply management plans to the workplace.

The Cert IV Civil Supervision Qualification is the industry standard for existing Supervisors or aspiring workers in the civil construction, earth moving and quarrying industries.

While there are no formal entry requirements for this Qualification, you must be employed full time or part time and have access to workplace documentation and projects to be able to complete the course assignments and activities and gain sufficient experience to successfully complete the program.
